A New Year Begins

August returns everyone from all the summer's activities and into a calendar of Unit events. The Pack had several so we hope to see some of them mentioned here. The Troop went to summer camp at Lost Pines in Bastrop, Texas. And I have to get back in touch with our Venture Crew and see how their summer went. So until next time...

So how many years has 183 been around? Has it always had the same sponsor?

Why can't we see faces on the Scouts at Philmont? Is that on top of Old Baldy?

HW, those are two good questions. The Pack for over 50 years, Troop in the neighborhood of 25 (gaps), and Crew about 5 (initiated by the older sister of one of the Scouts). Various sponsors.

Pic - The Crew is seen as Scouts and not guys and gals...the point of the picture, you cannot differentiate. All the feet hiked the same trail and participate in the same program though each will have different perspectives and memories. Site unknown to me but I can find out.

Troop 183 has been in opoeration since the 1940's (I think). I know that it was active in the 50's as my father and Dr. Thomas were active. I joined the troop in 1969 and it was already a 25 year veteran troop. I do not know whether it has been continuously chartered over that period of time....I think that it was originally (i.e. before me) chartered by the Lion's Club.
